BlackStar Orbital and Phantom Space Announce Collaboration for BlackStar-C Launches in 2025

Two aerospace companies have formed a partnership to conduct orbital demonstration flights beginning in late 2025, utilizing advanced spaceplane technology and commercial launch capabilities from facilities in Florida and California.

The Partnership

BlackStar Orbital Technologies and Phantom Space Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct a series of space launches. The announcement occurred at the SFA Spacepower conference in December 2023.

Initial Mission Details

The first launch will deploy the BlackStar-C spaceplane into Low Earth Orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station during the fourth quarter of 2025. According to CEO Christopher Jannette, the mission will "demonstrate our capability to serve the 21st century commercial and national security space customer."

The BlackStar-C features a modular payload bay designed for customer satellite deployment, including payloads from the 2019 SpaceBox Campaign.

Subsequent Operations

Starting in Q2 2026, additional missions are planned utilizing Phantom's Daytona launch vehicle to reach high inclination orbits from Vandenberg Space Force Base.
